It’s really amazing that we have only been here a few days, it feels like we have been here for weeks, and yet at the same time like we haven’t done anything at all!! There is so much to do, so much to see, so much to eat… we hardly know where to head to next.
Yesterday we had a very late start to our day, as the jet lag had set in; we ended up at breakfast at roughly 2pm. Yeah, yeah our bad… But anyways, we walked into downtown Rueil-Malmaison and stumbled upon an adorable little cafe where we were blown away by how beautiful and delicious everything looked! It makes it really hard to make up your mind on what you want when you want everything! After finally enjoying our French cuisine we headed to the train station and we were off to the Champs Elysées just in time to watch the end of le Tour de France (Umm, p.s. watching it is incredibly difficult, those bikers go really FREAKIN fast!). We toured the overly crowed street trying out different pastries, and fell in love with French macaroons.
After the chaos at le Tour, we hopped back on the train and got ourselves to Ile Saint Louis at around 5:30pm and found our way to the gorgeous, historic Notre Dame. You have to just sit there for a bit being in awe of the beauty and wonder that is this gothic cathedral. The late start happened to work out in our favor because being that it was Sunday we were able to attend evening mass at the famous church. I was so blessed to be able attend and despite the language barrier, I greatly enjoyed the service.
We left the island and headed back towards Rueil-Malmaison to meet with Gabby’s mother for a scrumptious dinner at this adorable restaurant which also consisted of a number of delightful drinks with mom. We turned in for the night and finally got a decent nights sleep! It’s lucky we bought round trip flights home or else we might all try to stay!!!
Twelve hours in a plane actually goes a lot faster than I had imagined, perhaps it was the naps or the anticipation! The four of us arrived in Paris at 9am this morning and didn’t stop going until…well about now. Just getting from the airport to the house we are staying at was an adventure across France; going from bus to train (which seemed to be about 2 miles under the city!) then back to bus, and finally a decently long walk to finally drop our stuff off.
Gabby, Kev and I then ventured to a local grocery which ended up being an impulse shopping trip for kev and I… which then ended up in a delicious meal of a number of random items! After a quick nap we were headed back into downtown Paris. A beautiful walk through the city ended us face to face with the Eiffel Tower where we dined on phenomenal crepes and popped and passed a bottle of champange under the tower as night fell around us. Had I brought my sleeping bag or we would still be there now, however we eventually ventured back to the streets of the city were a corner restaurant seemed to call to us. We sat dining on late night fries (the boys on steak) and I could not resist ordering a Tiramisu… which was quite possibly a life changing choice. BEST…DESSERT…EVER!!!
Now we are back at our temporary abode enjoying some crazy French music and a bit more wine! Tomorrow is another day enjoying gorgeous Paris (with a bit of Tour de France on the schedule). Only one day down and I am already awestruck by this amazing city. Can’t wait to see what else we can get ourselves into and what else this glorious world holds!! Til next time mon ami!!!
4am and I’m still awake, anticipation pumping through my bloodstream as I pack last minute items into my suitcase. Todays adventures lead me far from my normal gypsy-like travels and bring me to a plane flight headed towards ol’ Paris. For the next two weeks my posts will hopefully be from a small French cafe as my good friends Kevin, Tommy, Kristy and I head to Europe, no doubt to let the U.S. rest as we reak havoc on a foreign country for a few days. My attempts to have any semblance of a itinerary for the next 14 days have gone down in flames so instead folks we will be winging it in France. Video and pix to follow… trust me you’re going to want to see this!
Where the world will take us, nobody knows!!!

If life is a series of peaks and valleys, then I can be found suspended between the two. Never quite high, never quite low… yet the eternal quest for the perfect balance, for content, is not within my grasp. No, instead I am wandering within this void, a meandering soul, a nomad. And this has been my life for the last year. I live where I exist:
currently in a decently comfy recliner, in a state of insomnia in my parents abode; last week, in a string of Marriott hotels on a quest for rolling hills of vineyards; previous to that, in a log cabin in the middle of the Arizona woods.
A friend proposed the idea of living vicariously through me and my ever changing life by way of a blog and humbly I have obliged. When and where my next post will find me I have absolutely no idea, but I have no doubt that where ever it may find me is exactly where I am meant to be.
